So Watch this video:
See all the double sticking. I think in order to play 4 mallets we need to study some of this technique. The thing about this technique is that the hands are separated a lot of the time. Ok, it's more then we want, but check out the polyrthyms and how he uses double stops to free up one hand and move it. The bass line for instance.
Hey Everyone,
Time to fill you in on November's show.
Hello,
Yesterday I went to see a concert, lead by Guitar player Marc Ribot. I really felt like sharing this evening with all of you.
Marc Ribot's tribute to fim noir of the 40's, 50's and 60's.
Ribot was backed up by 10 belgian musicians. They received the scores a couple of months ago, and rehearsed with Marc all saturday apparently. Some of the musicians I've seen play before (mostly in JAZZ bands), others I wondered why I didn't see them before. What a band. fantastic musicians. crazy.
Line up :
Ribot : electric guitar/acoustic guitar/Banjo/Electric Sitar.
2 percusionists

One of the things I find most inspiring about this site is the generosity with which everybody shares their knowledge, experience, ideas, opinions, and passion for this instrument we all love so much. Beyond the pure joy of hearing and seeing great performances from the "Pro's" and non-professionals alike, there is a real opportunity here to learn. You would normally have to pay a fortune for the lessons that are available to the members and subscribers of Vibesworkshop.com
Sorry about the trash truck noise outside!
Many know my story, but I'll post it here.
I grew up playing classical guitar. Then drums. Then as a teenager I really got into classical piano. But my piano teacher got weird, so I dropped piano. Dumb move now. I'd be working a lot more if is a good piano player!
Here's a clip for a recent gig here with some old friends. I hadn't played with Charlie and Les for at least 10 years. We had a fun night listening and interacting with each other. Some guys go out for a night of bowling. I look at this as "our night of bowling". We all went out (joined by my wife Pam) for a drink and conversation at the Exeter Inn in Exeter, NH. An overall great night. I'm thinking that we are pretty lucky to be able to do this stuff. Play good music, hang with friends and get paid for it.
