Chega De Saudade - Ed Saindon Quartet

Here's a clip of Jobim's Chega De Saudade. I don't think Lance played this before, so a few loose spots here and there. A little information about the guys in the band. Lance is very active here in town playing with a lot of players. David is on the faculty at Berklee. Jun was visiting from Tokyo. He and I went to Berklee around the same time. We had Joe Hunt down for the gig, but he wasn't feeling well and Jun gladly said he would fill in.

Autumn Leaves - Ed Saindon Quartet

Guys, here's a clip of Autumn Leaves (also with some reharm behind the melody). I used some reharm during the solo as well. Many players use a chromatic II-7 V7 on the 3rd bar. Bill Evans did some simple but effective diatonic passing chords from I to IV on the bridge (which I shamelessly copied).

There's a great version on YT of Gary playing Autumn Leaves when he was in Moscow with a saxist Igor Butman.

Dave Liebman talks about practicing

David Liebman is the man. I have heard lots of stories of him getting really dark with students, and who knows how true these claims are... but every time I have heard him speak on jazz or other topics he has been eloquent and polite. I found this "speech" of him talking on practicing. Nothing we haven't all heard before, but still a great reinforcement!

On The Sunny Side Of The Street - Ed Saindon Quartet

Hey guys, here's a clip of On The Sunny Side Of The Street from a recent gig with some nice players and friends. Lance Bryant on tenor, David Clark on bass and Jun Saito on drums. There are some loose spots here and there, but we had fun. No rehearsal, just call tunes on the gig type of thing. There are more clips that we'll be uploading as they are edited.
