A little Sunday practicing on Cole Porter's classic composition "Just One of Those Things".
Getting a little practice time in today at home while on a semester break from Berklee. Here are a few choruses of I'm Old Fashioned by Jerome Kern and Johnny Mercer. I learned this tune playing with trumpeter Herb Pomeroy and clarinetist/saxist Dick Johnson. I learned so much from playing with them. Sadly, they have left us but are still very much missed and remembered by many musicians especially in the Boston area.
A nice medium be-bop tune that sounds pretty good as a solo piece.
Dedicated to the great Charlie Haden whom we lost in 2014. A very special musician and person.
Solo vibraphone audioclips from the Vic Firth videoshoot taped at Berklee are up on Soundcloud. Videos of the tracks will be posted on the Vic Firth YouTube channel over the next few months.

New clip from a video shoot taped by the Vic Firth production team which took place at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Other songs recorded at the session were (on vibes) Alone Together, Wave, Green Dolphin Street, (on marimba) Topsy and (vibes/marimba) Take the A Train. I'll post more as they are released by Vic Firth. Take the A Train was recorded as a Music Minus One project which will involve other mallet players recording their part and syncing it with my track. More information on this will be forthcoming. Happy Holidays everyone!
Shedding "Old Folks" in a Berklee practice room before a class.
I love playing vibes, but I also love playing piano. Here's a solo piano version of Henry Mancini's beautiful composition "Moon River".
Hi folks,
Here's a new video from a recent CD release gig in NYC. This piece started as a bit of a vibes etude that I expanded for a trio. This track is entitled "Never Sleeps" from my last album "Gotham."
