Hi,

A friend of mine who plays very good classical guitar would like some vibraphone / guitar duet pieces potentially.

We are thinking of:

The Piazolla flute/guitar duets
Toccatta and Divertimento for guitar plus vibes by Ney Rosauro

What else would you recommend we try?

thanks,

Joe

This might sound a little predictable, but I'd be curious to know how well the most recognizable classical pieces transfer to a vibes/guitar setting. I'm thinking about pieces like Pachelbel's Canon and maybe things that could be played in a violin/piano format but adapted.

Consider looking at some of the 1970's Hubert Laws CD's that David Friedman played on, and there were a number of classical adaptations that were very appealing. The titles start with 1971's Afro-Classic CD and run about four or five CD's, and include pieces by Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Satie, and Faure among others.

and what about him just working on his voicings and trying some jazz pieces???
