I need to retune the resonators of an old Century Vibe. Is there a solvent I should use to loosen any adhesive which might have been used on the caps?

The resonator tuning is very curious. The upper half is tuned such that the sound is loudest when the fans are wide open. The lower half is tuned quite sharp such that the sound is loudest with the fans at 45 degrees, as per Nico's description elsewhere in this site. The vibrato of the low end is perceived not as twice as fast, but as a kind of 6/8 wa-wa wa-wa..., I don't see evidence of retuning so it might have been manufactured this way, but I have never heard of this before. There is a small dent in one cap which looks like somebody tried to fit a broomstick past the fans and failed to actually dislodge the cap.

thanks
Mark
