Hi there,
I´m often on tour and I try to view vibesworkshop on my iphone, but I can´t see any videos.
Is there a possibility to view them?
Thanks,
Altfrid

Hey Altfrid,

Man you're there since more that a year, as subscriber, but we nearly ever see you online! Glad to hear from you!

I'm sure your question is for Tony, or any other guy: it seems that everybody except me on earth has a iphone! Haha!

You should post something about you. Some music, or tell us how you work on the site, what you get from it.

Feel free to speak!! :o)

The iPhone does not support flash. That's the problem. We need to reconvert our videos. We talk about doing it, but just have to get around to it.

Right now we are getting ready to do a major updatetoiur site, after that we can think about the video. I know it's a drag! I have an iPhone and iPad and hate it!

I remembered that my daughter has an iTouch, so I tried this on that and the video works. I can do a web app for Safari that plays the videos -- not as elegant as a native app, but it'll work. I'll get around to it sometime soon.

If someone could try that link on an iPad, it'd be nice. Those videos are optimized for a phone-sized screen. It'd be nice to now how they look on the bigger screen.

Yes, I can use the login API that Stephen set up to ensure people trying to access the videos have the right membership level -- the roku and android apps do that too.

while we're thinking about this official iphone app. i guess we could just make this a perk for subscribers huh??

just thinking out loud. didn't think of the pros and cons.

It would probably make the app marginally easier to do if we limit it to subscribers, but only marginally. If you'd like it that way, no problem.

On the other hand, we already have a perc for subscribers on these apps -- the ability to create a channel of their own. Not too many people have taken advantage of this yet, just me, Dana, and Jack Reilly so far, plus the channels I built for you, Joe and Ed.

I see these channels as a way to get to some new audiences. The Roku app has been installed on over 1,500 Rokus (1,549 as of a minute ago) and virtually none of those people new what Vibesworkshop was before they installed. I think an iPhone app has a similar opportunity to reach new people, although publicizing it might be difficult.

I wish I could get more subscribers to make channels. There aren't too many members that have installed the apps (12 at the moment, most of those using the Android version), so I guess out-of-sight-is-out-of-mind. But, for example, the videos on Dana's channel have been viewed 437 times since he created his channel about a month ago. These aren't quite YouTube numbers, but I think it makes a nice supplement.

At any rate, stepping down from my soapbox now.
