Hard to believe, it's five years since Good Vibes, the first and only broadcast program to feature the vibraphone, first went on the air.
I just wanted to post a congrats to Christos (Rafalides) for releasing his new suite for solo vibraphone, Reaching For Sindhu. I've had a chance to listen to the piece and check out the sheet music... and it's a really great piece of music! Here are the links to both the video (where Christos explains various elements and performs the piece), and also his website where the music is available, in both digital and hard copy formats. A New Orleans style jazz send-off for Bob Masteller is planned for April 10 at the Honey Horn Plantation, Hilton Head Island, following church services that morning. Musicians are coming from around the country to perform and pay their final respects to a truly inspirational human being. A memorial fund has been set up at website www.thejazzcorner.com. Proceeds will benefit Bob's beloved Junior Jazz Foundation, a non-profit organization which fosters jazz education among young people.

Looks like I haven't posted about the last two months' shows but I am back. March welcomes Ted Piltzecker and Larry Lawless to Good Vibes. In honor of the Third World Vibes Congress, I've included Tony and Anthony from their CD California, Here I Come, Ted from Unicycle Man, and Larry Lawless from Jazz Behind Bars. This last is from a CD I discovered on the table from Steve Weiss Music. I'll play a tune by Steve Pouchie, "Tunisia By Day," one from Behn's new CD Light at the Point, and more. Tune in!
