Hey guys, Marie-Noelle had posted a link of me playing this tune with bassist Mark Carlsen. Here is another version with Mark, Charlie Jennison on sax, Les Harris Jr. on drums and me on vibes. This was a concert that took place at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH in October, 2012. It was a tribute to local bassist Jim Howe who passed away. Jim and I used to play a lot together at the Press Room in Portsmouth, NH. This was one of Jim's favorite tunes. How Deep was also one of Herb Pomeroy's favorite tunes.
another version of this ballad. on this gig i tried to pick up the vibes with just a rode n1 from underneath. i liked the sound although on this video the vibes are a bit to low.

Check out Joe Pass. check out his intro here. Imagine this was a set of vibes. Doesn't translate totally to our instrument. I grew up playing classical guitar and still think the vibes are more like a guitar than a piano. IMHO
Vibist Dick Sisto is appearing tomorrow night, Feb. 1st, at The Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis. Sets begin at 7:30 and 9:30. Steve Allee will be at the piano, Frank Smith on bass and Jason Tiemann on drums. I've seen these guys a couple times and done some study with Dick and I think you'll be very glad that you ventured out into the frozen tundra to witness this one.
I haven’t had time to look and see how much this has already been covered before I joined the site. I’m hoping there is something useful here.
So I'm thinking Facebook, college professors, my friends, members of VW. Where else should I be hitting to get the word out about this project.
Do you guys have any ideas??
