I have been working my butt off. Lots of work which is good. You know I've made a transition over the last few years. I used to do tons of corporate stuff $$$$, but that has died. There are a bunch of good lookin' guys (like Behn) around who are hustling. Not just vibe players but also piano players and guitar players.

That's cool with me, I do think there's enough work to go around for all who are actively seeking it and all that know how to play their instruments. That's way it should be and I think that's the way it is.

ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY DICTIONARY for the Music Biz

24\7: The time signature of the national anthem of India.
AGENT: A character who resents performers getting 90% of his salary.
ARRANGER: A guy who writes to support a drinking habit.
BALLET: An art form for people with eating disorders.
BANDSTAND: The area farthest away from an electrical outlet.
BIG BAND: Nowadays, an aggregation consisting of two musicians.
BROADWAY PIT JOB: A prison sentence disguised as a gig.
CABARET: A venue where singers do songs from shows that closed out of town.

Been learning how to use Final Cut Pro in my spare time this summer, so here is a short sample. Video with iPhone 4, audio via Logic/Mics and Final Cut to merge them together. A happy summer tune.

Brad Mehldau is one of those guys that I don't always like to listen to. I don't really know why. I think some of what he plays may be too over my head for me to really appreciate. This, however, is breathtakingly beautiful. The mixture of very "in" sounds and incredibly dissonant, gut wrenching, "out" sounds is beautiful. Tension, release... stunning.

My percussion group put on a concert at a cool hotel in northern Sweden a few weeks ago. The hotel looks out over a big rapids and lake which you can see through the window behind us.

This is one of my songs called "Footprints in Snow", I'm playing vibraphone and my friend Jacob Remington is playing marimba.
