This is a cool tune. Let's learn it. You can really learn a lot from studying this tune.
So.... Listen to it.... Learn the head and learn the chords.
I made a few lessons up already. I play the melody (differently:wrong). I learned this tune years ago and it evolved into something else. You will hear it. It's subtle. I learned something from doing this lesson!
See if you can spot it when you hear my play it.
Jack,
Talk about this and what is happening.
This is a transcription of Tom Harrell's two choruses on I Remember You, from the 2009 recording on Philip Catherine's album by the same name. Original track superimposed over the transcription. A few wrong notes but nothing's perfect... enjoy!
PDF of transcription (including head in) attached.
I got inspired by Oliver's arrangement of "Days of Wine and Roses". The drummer in my band wants to play "Beautiful Friendship", so I thought I would try to arrange it in a Shearing style.
I understand the basic concept behind the Shearing sound, but I'm not sure if I've quite got it. In particular, I'm not sure what to do when the melody note doesn't fall within the chord-dim-chord-dim scale pattern. Chromatic notes in the melody are also difficult.
This is another entry in my ongoing effort to write, arrange, and play solo vibraphone. The Pop Up Classes focused on single tunes have been a great opportunity to develop my approach. I recorded this a week ago after the first class on "Bluesette". I think I can play it a little better now, but I haven't had a chance to record again.
I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend! I'm a day late, but I wanted to post what is my work in progress arrangement (not least in the performance) of this beautiful patriotic song. As a newcomer to this country, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays.
Hi everybody,
today I'd like to show you my personal version of Autumn Leaves. Make sure to download the attached pdf before watching the video so you can follow the reharmonization.
It's arranged for my project called D.O.V.E. (drums organ vibes ensemble).

I'm always wondering how to play a busy bebop tune and add chords.
I also don't think we have to play a lot of chords with a busy melody as busy melodies usually have a lot of information in them.
So I tried here to simply add only notes for the function of making sure the harmony was clear. I personally like this sound a lot.
Try to play it and see what you think.
