This lesson will be more valuable after you learn the tune! - Tony Miceli
Here's David performing 'Everything I Love', the lesson will be up soon!
Especially check out the left hand and the counter lines. Think about the harmony and how David is representing it in the left hand. This is a really interesting and great study for all of us. - Tony Miceli
Gary sent me this lesson to post on the site. It's a great lesson on solo playing. (I think part 2 is on the way)
I think it's really incredible that he is taking the time to do this for us! - Tony Miceli
Ok here's a video on the etude: Holyhell937. I perform it and I talk about it.
I hope someone else tries to play this, misery loves company!
Here's the link with the actual lesson and pdf:

Here are a bunch of lessons already up on the site based on the tune, My Romance.
These items are supplemental to our TOTM studies.
This is a basic arrangement for vibes or marimba of the popular jazz standard "Afternoon in Paris". It demonstrates a couple different ways to accompany a melody - using a counter line or a block chord. It also employs a simple pedal point for the left hand during the bridge.
A PDF of the arrangement can be downloaded HERE. So print down a copy and try it out!
Ted...
The Chief is a really nice tune Pat Metheny wrote and recorded on a CD called Reunion, with Gary Burton. I made this video clip for one of Tony's Vibe Hangs, and decided to post it here too.
I've included links to the Lead Sheet and an mp3 of the Piano Accompaniment to use to practice the tune.
Cheers!
"only after you’ve learned 1,000 tunes do you realize that there are really only about 20 song forms and every tune is a combination of segments of these 20 forms"... I read somewhere on Hal Galper's website.
That statement goes with me for a few weeks now.
Who are those famous 20?
