Vibes Solo – Chega de Saudade (No More Blues)
Remember Dynamics – They make a simple line sound remarkably dramatic. Use more swells and de-swells in your line. When you use swells and dynamics, it gives you more time for space because each line is so important and stands alone.

Quick overview of the discrete skills needed to play efficient strokes and shift. Each skill can be meditated on repeatedly for many hours and spiraled into your sessions at every stage of your career. I still pick up on new sensations throughout the arm and torso that I didn't recognize before.
Today the vibesworkshop pop-up class had a livestream concert on Facebook playing "Have You Met Miss Jones." Afterward I recorded a few takes so I could post a video here, only to discover that the video and audio didn't sync! It looks weird, so here is the audio only.
"Some Other Time" by Leonard Bernstein - One of my favorite ballads. With inspiration from the great version from Gary and Ralph on their ECM recording. Worked on this song with Gary during lessons at Berklee probably around 74.

Hello all,
My third "How to Play Vibes Like" video is going to focus on Bud Powell, one of my favorite pianists whom I have studied the most. There's a lot that us vibes players aren't able to compete with Bud Powell on -- our range is limited, we have fewer notes, he has two fully independent hands, etc. However, in these videos I'll try and show you what exactly I think we can translate over -- whether we have to change it a bit or keep it identical -- so that we can add some new devices to our collective skillset as vibraphonists.
