Chega by Gary Burton & Chick Corea (Chick's arrangt) - 2011

Hey guys,

I just ran across this new vid of Gary and Chick playing Chick's arrangement (I'm assuming) of Chega De Saudade. I know they've been all over the place in Europe recently. This concert was in Istanbul. Brilliant arrangement by Chick. He's great at coming up with these types of arrangements. He keeps the essence of the tune, but inserts his own trademark type lines and harmonies. For more examples of this, check out his solo piano cds where he's playing standards. He did this as far back as on Now He Sings, Now He Sobs where he plays his version of How Deep Is The Ocean.

Jean Vanasse - Info by Emilie

I will talk about Jean Vanasse.. Quebec vibraphonist.
He studies classic percussion in quebec and montréal conservatory but when he finished (1975) he was directed primarily in the progressive jazz and composition with his quartet "L'orchestre sympathique" (friendly orchestra..) influenced by classical and latin music. They recorded three live disc (self funded with a new concept : live recording where the public pays $10 to attend the show and receive the album on its release) and play in concert from 1976 to 1986 in Canada and Europe.

Jim Hart

London Based Vibraphone player.
studied his A Levels at Chethams school of music in 1994.
At this time was a percussion finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year.
He then studied jazz drum kit and piano at Guildhall School of music and drama.
After he graduated he became the drummer for the national youth jazz orchestra.
In 2002 he formed his band 'Gemini'.

Gady Lehavi

Hearing a post of Tony with the young guitarist Andreas Vorady made me remember this video of young (13 years old at that time) pianist Gady Lehavi playing Autumn Leaves with Dave Liebman. What's incredible is his maturity in harmony. Enjoy !
