I know i know guys we are metal freaks and not that much into that wooden stuff. BUT ! ... we can learn a lot from those marimba prodigies that bloom up years after years.
Adélaïde Ferrière is the new french star of the marimba. She is a concert player yet at the age of 20 and plays percussion as well as she plays marimba. She already won few awards in France as best young classical player ... And by the way who said Burton’s grip didn’t fit to marimba ?
Hi everyone,
Last year I heard about Pearl's new MalletStation and was considering getting one but wanted to see reviews from early buyers first. The release date kept getting pushed back, back, back, and I still don't see any reviews anywhere online. I know one person who just got one somehow and she says the MalletStation is heavier than it looks and is not feasible for transporting on the subway, which is mainly why I wanted to get one.
Anyone else know anything? Better to just go with a MalletKAT?
Thanks,
Carolyn
Hey Everybody,
Vibraphone Technique: Dampening and Pedaling
By: David Freeman
Etude #3
Lesson Material with instructor Tony Miceli.
Still think I can have a lighter touch to the instrument, and for some reason I have a few “buzzing” sounds as I dampen a bar with the mallet. I’m guessing the buzz comes from not dampening the bar firm enough?
A little Saturday morning practice before heading out to mow the lawn. Ha!Ha! Playing "Don't Forget (Renato's Theme"), a beautiful song composed by the great Pat Metheny. I love Pat's writing and the sound and feel of my M39 Vic Firth mallets.
Here's a great version of 23 by my student Morgan Walbridge
Hi
here´s some more music i composed for the detective novel. ths is very very simple but i like the possibilities of the malletkat to add spacey sounds. it fits perfect to the mood in the story which is very sad and dark as you can hear :)
i also added donnerblech (don´t know the english word for it) and cymbal played with bow.
as i said nothing fancy to play but i like the mood and the recording.
