Cal Tjader - Solar Heat

Listen to the first tune! Ode to Billy Joe. And the second tune. I think he does a good job playing pop tunes! What do you think? Some people play pop tunes and it's not very convincing to me and others totally turn the tune into something!

Hey Everybody,
June's show is coming up fast.

The new albums I've been playing lately are Stefon Harris' Sonic Creed, Tony's Invitation, Joe's Subtle Disguise, Jakub Kawnik's Vibraphone & Guitar, and Behn's Parallel Universe. Lots More. Tune in.
Enjoy the weather!

"Falling Grace", Burton Transcription (G. Perin)

Hi vibes friend today I'd like to present my transcription of the head of Falling Grace (Swallow) as played by Gary Burton in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7Dtsh_BhkQ

Unfortunately there's no description in the video but I think it was recorded in the '90.
Thanks a lot for watching and remember to follow me on Facebook Instagram and Youtube!

Tony's Conception Chord Melody

Hi Tony,

I had a go at this. I should probably practice it more, but I was inspired by Al to post something. I had to simplify a chord or two to play it at this tempo. I also missed at least one chord in the bridge, but I think I kept the time together.

Does anyone remember the story Gary told about this tune from his autobiography? As I recall, George Shearing gave this tune to Gary at rehearsal thinking it would be difficult for him. Lo and behold, Gary was already familiar with the tune and blew through it no problem!

M75 - Just Picked Up 2 Beautiful Instruments

Just picked up an m-75. I think it's the first year they made it because the motor is NOT variable speed. And a Deagan Marimba from the 40s in beautiful condition.

The m-75 is a fantasy instrument of mine. I promised the owner that they would be put to good use. A school is getting the marimba. The m75 is not a good instrument for a student, so I think I'll sell an Omega that I have at a good price. That's much better for a student.
