Ok guys, The first class will be April 5th, 7pm EST.
Here is what you do to be part of the class.
If you're new, this the entrance into the class.
Time has to be good and you can be as simple as you want.
caravan is a good tune to work on. Just like Green Dolphin Street in a way it's half modal and then have changes. And the chages are great to work on, dominant chords! 3 of them, 2 are regular 9 chords and then a diminished going to Ab and then down a half step to an altered chord. So it's actually 4 dominant chords.
What do you think, - Tony
We would do the same deal. You get in the class by playing the melody and then the chords. Do it with Ireal pro with no piano turned on.
In my classes this week we are focusing on Latin American music styles, so I figured it was time to record a Latin version I'll Remember April to share with my students. Lots to learn still. Enjoy!
All comments and suggestions are appreciated.
I’m finding this site very motivating.
-Reid.
As a following to one of the last topics about piano, guitar or drums as models for vibists, i found that video who took me completely off-guard.
Dorothy Ashby was a jazzwoman playing HARP ! And to my biggest surprise, i discovered that finally jazz harp is very close to vibraphone. Same long notes to dampen, same fight to get a good jazz phrasing, and chords sounding very close to the way they sound on vibes.
Hey all,
I hope this is the right place to post this - this is my first time actually making a post. With all the work we've been doing on I'll Remember April I thought to share an arrangement I've been making of it. It's by no means done or even close to done but I thought it'd be great to share and get some feedback.
My second attempt at comping and soloing over So What. As suggested to me, I tried out comping using fourths this time.
