I love watching people play the vibes.
Anrei is a great player of the instrument and does great stuff with the classical rep.
One thing I thought about was his fast single hand runs.
I'm trying to understand pros and cons. The pros are obvious the left hand is free to do stuff! That's big if you can play fast with one hand and phrase.
I think I can say if you play a lot of notes with one hand, then you have to get the height down a bit. You need to quickly move from note to note. That's just physics right? Time of travel and the shortest route?
Hi everybody. Here All Of Me played in old style, but with a lot of fun, which we need in those covid times...
This was a tricky one for me, and I don't think I got it perfect (missed two notes!! And the runs could be faster), but this is the best take I got, and I'm happy with it. Let me know what you guys think! "Classical" vibes is still pretty new to me, so I appreciate any comments you may have!
Great video!
What's cool about this lesson is you never hear and bad note out of Andrei and he's playing the same triad over and over. Check him out on YouTube. He's a really great player. He plays classical and jazz. I'm especially blown away by his classical playing and he's also a great improviser.
Hi Everyone,
On Sunday, May 2nd Good Vibes is celebrating 11 years broadcasting! That's a lot vibraphone jazz over the airwaves.
Each tune is special, selected carefully from among the thousands in my collection. Choosing them is the fun part. Researching them often leads me down the internet rabbit hole where I can spend more time than I intended.
Here's me working on one of my favorite Oscar Peterson solos, "Just Friends" off of the album Walking the Line!
Just something kind of dumb and fun (and rather challenging for my subpar video editing skills).
Second to last one! This one is beautiful (and hard!).
