What Happened to the TOTM? Blue Bossa

I have the final lesson coming of our TOTM. The thing is there have been so many heavy videos going up that I thought I should chill on the TOTM and let all this great stuff through. It's been the Burton Lessons, the Friedman lessons, Ed Saindon performing. This is great stuff, and I've been learning a ton from checking out these cats so I assume you guys are as well.

I have the last lesson the 'Putting it all Together' lesson planned and I'll post it soon.

All The Things You Are - Ed Saindon at the Park Plaza

Hello everyone,

Here's another clip which was just uploaded to YouTube. Billy sounds great on alto as on clarinet and Thomas is swinging like crazy. However, I might have had too much coffee before the gig. Ha!Ha!

I just saw a smokin' version of Tony (with bassist Tony Marino who also sounds fantastic) playing this tune a few days ago. Tony's lines and swing feel are beautiful. All The Things You are is one of those tunes that everyone plays. Keith Jarrett has recorded it a number of times.

Triste by Ed Saindon at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel

Triste is one of my favorite Jobim tunes. It's nice to see the reactions from Thomas and Billy in these vids since I don't see their faces when I'm playing. I was laughing at their reaction at the beginning of my solo. I'm playing a blues type lick over the first 8 bars of the solo. It looks like their saying, "what is he playing?, is he lost? etc. Then they have a sigh of relief at bar 9 when I resolve the motive to the C-7 chord.

It Could Happen To You by Ed Saindon from the Park Plaza Hotel

Hey guys,

Here's another clip from our hotel gig. We're playing "It Could Happen to You" in Eb, although it's played quite often in G. One of my favorite versions is from Keith Jarrett who plays it in G. Sorry about the crowd noise. We're playing in the lobby of the hotel where people are coming and going.

I'm Old Fashioned by Ed Saindon at the Park Plaza Hotel

Hello everyone, I'm playing vibes tomorrow night (Friday, 10/22) with Billy Novick - clarinet and Thomas Hebb - bass from 5-7:30 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel in downtown Boston. The trio has been there 5 nights a week since September. Gustavo and I have been sharing the gig with Billy and Thomas. It's been a nice run. Here's a videoclip of the trio playing the standard I'm Old Fashioned (taped in September at the Park Plaza Hotel). We'll be uploading a total of 10 clips (from 9/16 at the hotel) to my YouTube Channel.
