We just finished a fun week here in Boston. Berklee Percussion Week takes place every year at Berklee in June. The week featured classes, ensembles, clinics and concerts with a variety of tracks including drum set, hand percussion, total percussion, marimba and vibraphone. The mallet faculty this year included Dave Samuels, Gustavo Agatiello, Nancy Zeltsman and myself. All of the songs from my Tuesday night concert have been uploaded to SoundCloud. The band featured Matt Marvuglio - flute, Marco Pignataro - sax, David clark - bass, Ron Savage - drums and myself on vibes.
Hi All,
Since it's the last day of my cell phone billing cycle and I have some data left, we've made a last minute decision to Livestream tonight's gig. The link is http://new.livestream.com/accounts/1758489/events/2195047/statuses/2218….
We'll be starting at about 7:30 (pm EDT) and going for an hour or so with the Livestream -- don't want to run over my data limit! There won't be anyone to monitor the chat room, so you're on your own there.
Enjoy!

Hi All,
Here is the article I wrote for my monthly column, On The Road, in the New Jersey Jazz Society magazine. It appears in the just-released July/August issue. This magazine is sent to members only and is not available online. Anyone who would like the full 54-page mag, please email me and I will send the whole pdf.

Hey friends,
I recorded this rehearsal of my little solo suite for Vibraphone and iPhone called "Nordlig Vinter" recently. Thought some of you might be interested! There's three short pieces in the one video: Ice Drum, Clusters and Snow Bells.
If you like the music there's more information on my site: http://charlesmartin.com.au/nordligvinter
Hey all,
Soon me and the family are going on our 2 week holiday. And this year I just don't want to take a break in playing. Only thing is, I can't take the vibes.
Now I noticed there are these cheap 1-1.5 octave glockenspiels you can get.
-Is it a good idea to take this with me, and work a bit with it on holiday ?
- do some of you now fun stuff, (tunes, excercises,....) that I can do then.
- Or maybe sheet music which I need to rewrite for vibes ? (for my level of playing off course, but a lot of you know what I'm capable or not, so I can ask here.)
other stuff....
thanks,
this tune is written by our singer taken from a gig we did some time ago...

I wrote the publisher and asked for a discount for the Emil Richards biography. I think we'll get 40% off.
It is a VERY VERY interesting book for a mallet player.
Let me know if you use this and buy the book. Just curious as to how many people do this.
PERC40JUNA is the discount for the emil richards book
