Where to go in Indianapolis

Hi VW friends!
If you are going to be in town for PASIC, be aware that Indy's jazz tradition is still going VERY strong. We have amazing players who come up from the great music school at IU, plus a bunch of fantastic local players. There are two clubs in Indy that are strictly jazz - the Jazz Kitchen, and the Chatterbox. The Chatterbox is located downtown - just one mile from the Convention center and is really worth checking out. On weekdays the music starts at 8:00 and there is no cover charge and the drinks are cheap.

Vibe players Earn NOT $100.00 but $150.00 practicing and learning!

Be the first person to record this little etude I arranged for solo vibraphone and I'll paypal you 150 BUCKS!

The Etude is based on the traditional spiritual song "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and will be beautiful when you perform it at your church. Your performance must be expressive, played well, nicely recorded (home recording is fine) and posted here. $50.00 goes to the second vibraphonist and 25.00 to the third. GO!

NOTE: You gotta play the piece well.

"Quarantine" by Carolyn Stallard

This past June/July, I composed a piece inspired by the weeks I spent volunteering at a place called Quarantine Island/Kamau Taurua, on the South Island of New Zealand off the Otago Peninsula. The piece tells of the island's history as a quarantine station (and the Maori injustices that accompany colonization) and my experience living there, volunteering, meeting community members, and hanging out with the Island Keeper and his two wonderful kids.
