Mallets and Progressive Rock - Lazuli -

A colleague of mine is active in a site for Progressive Rock fans. We finally found a link between both our passions: a PR band with mallet percussions!

Don’t expect the vibes to be a star there. It’s first of all Progressive Rock:

- Guitars rule: bass, acoustic and electric guitar, chapman stick, warr guitar, and an instrument unique in the world: The Leode. That very large handled guitar, created by the player himself, after he had lost the use of his left arm in a road accident.

Saturn's Child by Joe Locke (Feat. Rosario Giuliani)

Wow!

Nadja just put on line this new video from JazzBaltica summer 2008.

Joe Locke and Sticks and String re-visiting Saturn's Child... with Rosario Giuliani as guest... Oh man!

I love the way that video was recorded, with close shots of Joe's grip (beginning) and of other musicians in there thoughtfull playings.

A huge solo from Rosario (3'48), who quite often plays with Joe, but whom we don't see enough on videos.

I also truly dug the vibes/guitar double voice speach, especially from 6'10... wow!

Oh... man...

Enjoy! :o)

Not vibraphone, but good good vibes! - "Let's don't Worry"

Hey everybody!

I got this link from my super harpist technician buddy from myspace George Flores.

Maybe some of you already saw this?

It's not vibraphone, but wow, it's good good vibes! :o)

Enjoy and keep it up!

MN

P.S.: I like the funny French accent of the first guitarist! Haha!... And every single musician is such a great symbol! Beautiful!

Duet with Joe Locke & Martial Solal (Umbria 2008)

Hi again,

I'm just back from our hang, and in the middle of it I got a message from Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy) alerting me about a new very very fresh video of Joe!

I knew Joe was to play a duet with amazing french pianist Martial Solal (FYI, MS is 81 years old, and 20 in his fingers!). I had asked and they very nicely sent me an email with weblink!

Here is a sample of that gig, which took place today at 4 p.m. western Europe time... which is... some 5 hours ago!

Don't they both look like kids in a playground?!!

Enjoy! :o)

The Peacock by Joe Locke

Oh man!

I just found the freshest news from one of Joe's very recent performances at Umbria (Italy). This video was just posted today. The gig can only be one or two days old! There's Bob Cranshaw on double bass (!), Joe Labarbera on drums and surely Dado Moroni on piano...

Oh man! Isn't that great! A postcard from Italy! :o)

PS: enjoy, but get ready, the vid is "inhumanly" cut! :o( Never mind! It's beautiful!
