A way to practice recognizing the #4 is to set your ear up in the key of F Major on the vibe or piano by playing the scale or a cadence that clearly establishes the key of F in your ear. Then, turn your back to the instrument so you can't see it and play any random white note on the piano (or vibe). Without looking, identify the pitch and play and sing it's pathway back to "DO" (F Major). By doing this in F, you will randomly play the note B (which is #4, Fi) in the key of F.
