i think we should all hit this link and comment on how great it is. It's a little talk about the vibes from NPR. If we all commented it might coerce them into to doing more stuff on the vibraphone!!
that milt video i posted tonight is smo o o o o kin
i'll definitely keep trying! :)
have fun, post a tucksie cut sometime if you can
anywy, i'm off to listen to some music and then sleep. got a gig with tucksy tomorrow night that i must prepare for!
i hear ya. but cost/quality of life is probably better there... this city can get the best of you sometimes!
those days were fun because it was still pretty cheap to live.
hear a legend
i can't walk to into a club tonight and here a legend, and you can, right?
i just think we don't have the monsters walking around like you guys do. know what i mean?
not like ny at all. but there's a solid core of great players.
those days do sound fun... tony, how's the scene in philly? there a lot of good players?
musically it was fun. that picture is in boston and we would drive up to do a 75 dollar gig and drive back!!!!
i wouldn't want to do them over again
thats pretty funny. those were really really really crazy days
sorry, i got distracted looking at your hair photo again. so much hair...
Ya I need to go shed again myself. Till next time...
i'm struggling over here. practicing REALLY hard music for gig. it's killing me

My other friend that I wanted to invite had a death in the family and is a bit down and out right now....
Yes. I did hear back from Piper today so (fingers crossed) next time

Oh...
Oh... poor Tony! You keep on shouting!!! :o(
At least Tjaco heard you this time! :o)
Well, could it be because of the registration you have to do on NPR to leave a comment?
Comm'on guys! A few more clicks/keys! Let them know you exist! Let them know they are right to talk about the vibraphone, and that "some" people care about it! :o)
outstanding....
man all all these recordings have been in my collection at one time of the other. Chan's song is such a gorgeous tune. i played that in a duo situation with a french horn player, and well the milt cut is always just well hope can i say it. milt is the man ...
cool
don't forget to post over at the link if you have time! It's right next to 'Add new comment'. that's if you have the time!

Vibes
.... and oh yeah, 'Times Like These"! Lovely song, Gary and Michael together (you hear the first note and start missing him all over again).
This is quite a nice collection of vibe recordings. Wonderful Hamp on Flyin' Home. And Bobby's "Skyline " album ! Have you checked out the ballad,"Can You Read My Mind?" from this one? So beautiful .... And the infamous Miles date, where Monk walked out in the middle of the session - a classic.
Skyline... the "Hutch' touch"
I went to this site where you can find samples from Bobby Hutcherson's "Skyline" which are not "too small"...

Wow! This is something!
And yes, "Read my mind" is truly beautiful! I remember exactly the moment of the Superman movie it's from. He has completely transformed it into a great, thoughtful musical moment!
Much respect Monsieur Hutcherson!...
Stefon plays Bach
Stefon's solo on the Bach piece is stellar ... really swingin' !
Comments
Quite a few comments on this link since you posted Tony... interesting!
Check'em out!... Add some? :o)
Stefon's track
I thought it was odd that Stefon's track was marimba instead of vibes, considering that the article was about vibes. Excellent playing nonetheless.
more people! i wish

Times Like These-Burton
I have this CD and it's great. Scofield, Marc Johnson on bass, Peter Erskine on drums and Michael Brecker, God rest his soul, he was a hell of a player. It's the kind of CD you can really mellow out to.
