Recording yourself

i don't have anything good for recording myself, so i'm looking for something with good audio recrding. i'm thinking probably just audio, some sort of portable recorder. but if there's anything that has video too i wouldn't be opposed to it. something around $100-$200 or so is what i was thinking. thanks for any info on this!

Recording Yourself

This is be a great investment! Don't worry about video. The audio is most important.

I have a zoom. Here are two models

They're both great for recording yourself. I money is a problem then get the cheap one. If you can get the H4n then get that one. It has a lot of really cool features I don't think the other one has. The H4n can be used as an interface for software on your computer.

But you know what, either of them will change your musical life! You're record and listen back and learn a ton. You will be glad when you have an audio recorder. Forget the video for now. The audio is the way to go. Video takes too much time, to get into the computer and prepare and then convert to post, etc.

I have a Zoom H2 and I'm truly happy with it. Very intuitive, easy to use, versatile, good quality recording, great portability.

Surely the H4 is better. But the budget is closer from yours with H2 and fine.

Just take care of it as it's more fragile than it's big bro.

Yes sound from H2, at least when my son and I are singing. You know that we all recorded our parts home, and Tarik mixed them afterwards. I'm not sure which recorder he owns, but I guess he would tell you the same.
