Frequently Asked Questions

It's several things. Your internet connection, traffic in your area, and us.

Since video happens over time, you need to get the data in a timely manner and that doesn't always work right.

On your end you might have cable internet which can be fast and slow depending on how many people in your neighborhood are on at the same time. Or you might have DSL and it just might not be a fast enough service.

On our end we need to learn more about video and how to stream and compress better. We're trying. We're working on some things now that might solve the problem.

If the front page slows down, depending on when you found the site, there's probably a lot of stuff you haven't seen yet.

Have you:

Just keep in mind that at the time of posting this faq there were way over 700 items posted here. That's a ton of stuff and that's in only 4 months. If you're looking at the site months from this posting then there should a thousand or a couple thousand items. So there's a lot here to learn from.

Don't just use the front page. That's like the front page of a newspaper, there's a ton more stuff inside. Now with that being said, this front page really moves, so each week there's a bunch of posts and things of interest.

If you see someone's name on a post and you want to see if they have any blogs, click on there name. It should be a link if it's on something they posted or if they're online. Then you go into their user file. At the top you'll see view recent blog entries.

breadcrumbbreadcrumb

At the top of each article, lesson, video or audio (or most other documents) you'll see a 'breadcrumb'. That's what web developers call them. It's a path to where you are. If you look at that path it should tell you where you are, where the article you're looking at is and where you'll find the article again.

It's a good idea to keep an eye on the bread crumbs as you look at documents on the site.

If something doesn't have a breadcrumber then it should be a page with many articles on it. However once you hone in on what you're looking for and you're reading the actually document, there should be some sort of breadcrumb at the top above the title.

This is where all the learning should take place. In other words:

You hit the site, log in, check the front page and then check Recent Activity. All these sections are in flux, they'll change all the time. They are NOT the places to go back to and look for things you previously saw. They are places to go and check on what's new.

The books section is broken up into different books. Anything in a book will stay in the book in the same position. Things like lessons, tunes, blogs will usually go into books and stay in the same spot.

When you hit the front page a lot of times you'll open an article and see an up button towards the bottom. That means the content is in a book. By hitting the up button you can travel back through the book to it's top.

You can also look at the bread crumbs at the top part of the page. A bread crumb shows you the path where you are. This is helpful in books to remember where articles are.

You can use the annotations feature also to mark the book.

Just remember that most things get filed into the online books. Learn where things are in the books and you'll always be able to come back to them.

To change your password, go into your account. once you've logged in you'll on the left under your name you'll see 'My Account'. Click there and you'll go to your account and then click edit and you'll see where to change your password.

Use annotations!

Subscribers can add annotations to each post! So mark as re-read and then click on 'My Account' on the left and when you go to your account, you'll see annotations. There you can see which topics you wanted to come back to.

you can even mark them as PRACTICING NOW, or PRACTICED, or BUY THIS CD, etc.

Maybe it's easier said than done, but pick something and practice it.

Ok, that's the smart ass answer. There's a TON of stuff here and more is going up all the time. 100's of posts to help you become better.

So the answer is to make a commitment to something and work on it.

The trick is to go through the online books. That's where all the lessons get moved to. Think of the books like any other lessons and method books you have at home. When posts get put in there they don't move. So look through there and find things to work on.

If you're still stumped, then blog and tell us why you're stumped and the kind of stuff you want to work on. There's a good chance that one of the faculty will comment to your blog and offer a suggestion.

However, pick something, print it out and make it your focus for a while. Then find something else. We're in the process of building lesson plans and ways to guide you, for now just seek out something and work on it. But stay with it for a few days or a week before you move on.

As a last resort try me mailto:tony@tonymiceli.com. I'll try and help you.

there's a lot going on on this site and it's picking up each day. If you're a subscriber, you're probably going nuts with all the posts and comments, from guys like Joe Locke, piper, Saindon, Friedman and others. It's incredible how much is happening around here.

So...

In the top menu at the top of the page. you'll see 'Recent Activity'. This is where you can see what's happened lately.

If you just posted a comment, and I look under 'Recent Activity', I'll see the story at the top and '1 New' next to it. That tells me that there's a comment there that i haven't read.

Also if you just posted a blog it will be at the top there. That's the first spot I hit when I hit the site and I work down the page to see what's happening.

If you're interested in just the latest comments, you can also look under 'Recent Comments'.

This has become a fairly extensive site, with a LOT of material. Once you are a paid subscriber to the site, spend a few days just looking around and learning where things are.

The Front Page: This page will constantly change, It's going to feature a lot of the new stuff coming onto the site. The old stuff will scroll of as more new stuff comes on.

Resources: Here's where all the important stuff is, the online books, audio, video and more. In the online books is where all the lessons get categorized. Once a lesson is categorized here it will stay in the same spot.

After this just pick things and work on them, take your time, work thoroughly through something before you move on.

Just don't be overwhelmed with everything on the site, it will be there, so take your time.

Recent activity and recent comments is a good place to check each time you're online. This where you can really get an overview of what's happening on the site, what lessons and articles have gone up and who's saying what!

A virtual masterclass is a clinic or masterclass that takes place from our video studio to your home. I have several cameras a plenty of microphones to bring good video and audio to you.

On your end you don't need a lot if any of this. Laptop cams, home cams and a laptop all will work fine. And if you don't have any of that equipment we can still work together in many ways.

Students can play for us and ask questions. We can demonstrate technique and give different camera angles to help show our hands and instrument.

If this intrigues you then pleas contact me at tony@tonymiceli.com and we talk and I can even give you a live demonstration.

A subscriber is a paid member of the site. They have access to all the content of the site, that is the lessons, the private workshops, posting of audio and video, and lesson plans.

A subscription is the month to month fee and access to the site. This is done through paypal. You don't have to be all set up to use a credit card with paypal. This is a secure transaction, as you'll in the URL address HTTPS. This is the same secure network that your bank uses for online banking.

And it's easy to cancel, you'll just log into paypal and cancel the subscription.

Someone who is a member and NOT a subscriber gets a peek at things, mostly just the faculty performing. They also can see my blog and check out dates of when things are happening. Hopefully members will like what they see and then subscribe.

It's impossible to do a website of this scale without the subscriptions.

The subscription is $19.99 a month. If you have any questions email me.

With each post on this site, you can leave an annotation, that is comments for yourself to read. These annotation are private, only you and the site administrator can see them.

You can mark articles with suggestions, mark up lessons with the progress you making. Even mark lessons completed so if you come back on a later date you can see that you've already worked on this lesson!

Also your annotations can be made public if you think they'd be helpful to others!

Yes this site is set up for private instruction. Contact one of the faculty members and they'll help you get set up. There is an additional fee for studying privately. And space is limited based on the instructors availability.

Most faculty members (if not all) that offer private lessons, will also set up individual lessons with you via Ichat or Skype.

Studying privately, you can create topics you want to study, attach audio video and pdf files, and refer to articles on this site and ask questions.

It's really simple to do and to get going.

email Tony at tony@tonymiceli.com for more information.

Groups are where the private lessons take place. If you're studying privately then you'll see your group on the side bar to the left.

Resources are simply areas to explore content. They're to help you zero in on what you want to watch and/or work on.

Audio - Contains all the audio content on the site.

Good Vibes! - Is an online lesson book. When new lessons are posted you'll see them on the front page, in recent comments and finally categorized in the online book 'Good Vibes!'.

Tune Library - These are snippets of audio files so you can hear the head of different standards. This section will help you in the process of learning tunes.

CD Library - Hear are great (mostly vibe) CDs for you to check out buy and study. If you don't have a lot of vibe CDs this is the area that will help you.

Video - Here's an easy way to access all the video on the site

Lesson Plans - We'll attack some of the stuff on the site with ideas and plans on how to work on the material!
