Music publishing

Does anyone have any advice for publishing your original music? I've been doing a fair amount of composing lately for a CD project I'm working on, and I was wondering how the process works, is it worth doing, etc.

A little while ago Mike Pinto mentioned the benefits of publishing your tunes and I looked into the company he's with, but they seem to require more stature in the industry than I have. Does anyone have suggestions that will work for people with day jobs?

Any advice appreciated :-). Thanks in advance.

Intersting article from the Ecomists on the struggle to keep classical music alive. Good or bad, I don't know, but worth some thought.

Ed Saindon playlists

Well, I didn't get much activity on my Ed Saindon playlists, but I've been really enjoying having them playing the background while I work. So I created a playlist of Tony's videos -- http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8693AD6521EF4387 -- 45 videos. Enjoy!

Ed Saindon playlists

I've created a couple of playlists of Ed Saindon videos and thought that others might enjoy them.

One is for the seven videos from Ed's concert with Joe Locke -- http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=6F904A946451667D.

The other is for the 23 videos of Ed and Billy Novick playing together -- http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL967A2EE5564E0C65.

Trio gig

Back home after a 3-hour trio gig (vibes, bass, drums). Man, I am exhausted!

Vibes sound cool

So, I played a gig with a new band this weekend and afterwards and during I got a million comments to the effective of, "wow, the vibes sound cool! You add some great color behind the soloists. I didn't know you could do that with vibes" -- from the musicians as well as the audience.

Now all of this was very gratifying but of course, I KNOW that vibes sound cool already -- that's why I play it! It's amazing how many people have no idea what a vibraphone can do, even other musicians. And especially what a 4-mallet, chord-oriented vibist can do.

Ed and Joe

Well, apparently I led a good life because the only explanation for the performance I've just seen is that I've died and gone to heaven :-). I'm just back from seeing Ed Saindon and Joe Locke perform in duo, and I'm blown away. Going with two vibraphones instead of vibes and marimba, they both got to play to their full and considerable expressiveness.

It was great to finally meet Joe in real life, and to catch up with Ed and his wife Pam. I'm really glad I could make it to the performance.

1000 videos available on Vibesworkshop Roku/Android/iPhone apps

As of this morning, there are 1,000 Vibesworkshop videos available via the Roku, Android and iPhone apps.

The Roku app has been installed on 2,565 Rokus and the Android app has been installed on 104 Android phones. Due to the nature of the iPhone app I can't really tell how many people are using it, but it seems to get a little more use overall than the Android app, and a fair amount less than the Roku app.

For info on how to install and use the apps, see the "Check This Out" links.
