Hi all!
I recently re-recovered Moondog's Bird'S Lament and I thought maybe someone here might have a lead sheet of this song?
If so please be so kind to drop me a line, thanks a lot, cheers Stefan
Hi all!
I discovered that the way I am trying to play Work Song is a quite tricky mallet dampening etude to me when I try to let the chords ring for comping. Next time I'll use a metronome - promised.
any feed back welcome, cheers Stefan
Hi all!
As my baby and his mother are sleeping I can't play vibes and instead I play guitar.
David Friedman talked at the Delaware workshop about Jazz as a language one wants to learn. This recording of mine shall show how I speak "Jazzguitar" after about 18 years of "training" now.
Sorry, no vibraphone this time, hope you don't mind, btw the piece is called Somebody's Soul and I actually play only the comping - maybe someone wants to dub something over it?
any feed back welcome
cheers Stefan
hi!
I just realised that the vibes have one more advantage beside the cool sound, the cool attitude, the excluiveness and the fact that vibesplayers get all the chicks: you can play it with a baby wrap! no way of doing this with a guitar!
So folks get youself a set of vibes - the chick and eventually an offsping might follow BUT you can still play!
Cheers Stefan
BTW its a boy named Louis, born 9.7.2010

Hi all!
I'm sitting at home grounded with a bad cold so I got more time than usual to post here.
Someone at TheVibe.net reported that he recently acquied a 4-octave DeMorrow vibraphone - is there anyone familiar with this brand? Any opinions? Nico?
Well, I am an old gear head
cheers Stefan
Hi all
Since my favourite musical companion a flutist is on maternity leave for another year now I started to check out other hobbyist people to make music with. So far I haven’t been very successful. One guitar player I met who was quite on an equal level to me and was a quite nice person. However suddenly he was no more reachable for me without any further notice. Another guitar player who was a nice person as well turned out to be a low level beginner (although he had tons of equipment) – he also quickly disappeared.
Hi Tony, hi all,
quite some time a go John McLaughlin was in town playing a concert tour called "Remember Shakti". One of the songs was a piece of classical Indian music. I wonder is some of you dear VWers have some receommendation where to start with this kind of stuff? Cd's? artists?
Any thoughts? thanks!
Cheers Stefan
Hi!
Just a practise tape of me playing Autumn Leaves, don't worry its only two chorusses ;-)
critics welcome
Cheers Stefan
P.S. just added a version of the mp3 without metronome
Hi all!
A few days ago I received the Vic Firth Gary Burton mallets - 2 pairs for a total of Euro 65,- Including shipping + import sales/purchases tax + handling by the Austrian mail services. Here in Austria, if the price of an item is less then Euro 150,- there is no duty!
Thats a bargain since a single pair costs about Euro 55,- or more(check out thomann and all the others).
So my recommendation is to order by one of the big shops. I ordered at Steveweissmusic which I can recommend, but there are others.
The only con is that it takes some 4 weeks to get the stuff delivered.
