Who is Chick82?

Hey Chick82!

You joined us some 2 months ago as subscriber and we quite often see you online. You even had the nice thought of wishing Tony a happy birthday on the chat... But we don't hear much from you... hardly a comment, no post...

I can see that you're living in Italy. Can you tell us more about you?.... Please!! :o)

- M

PS: for your information you can write as much or as little as you like and ony what you like about you. If you want to check out how others replied to the question before you, you can have a look there: http://www.vibesworkshop.com/node/1940/ Go go go!! :o)

Who is Babu?

Wouldn't it be cool to get back to our old tradition: the "Who is" posts?
If you want to know what a "Who is" is and read some of them, they are all here:

So my question today is... but for God's sake who is Babu? Huh? :o)

Jamming with the Clock... the Midnight Blues

.
Midnight yesterday evening. Far late enough as bed time for wise people... But I had not touched my vibes since I was back from the workshop... I closed the living room's door and took back my lonely mallets...

The rats and fish were quiet in the opposite corner. Ok, cool... But then I heard it. That noisy and disturbing clock on the cheminee that I always need to take off and put in the bathroom when I record something.

But this time I didn't hear it the same. It had become a lovely and soft 60 bpm metronome!

La Marine - duo vibes/accordion by Luc Lainé

Hey all,

I'm posting this tune for our new member Luc Lainé. Luc is among Patrice Guillon's friends. He lives near Bordeaux.

Here is a tune from a home made album he did in 2005 with accordion player Pascal Lamigne. The title "La Marine" is an adaptation of same tune from French legendary poet/guitarist/singer Georges Brassens.

Man I grew up with Brassens! But maybe, as non French will you get sent into some kind of "Ratatouille" mood?

Anyway, enjoy! And...

Welcome on board Luc!

Paul Jefferies - Taking care of your instrument...

.
As you may know, I have a Premier 751, freshly restored by my husband. Still we had parts to change, advice to get for this very first time. John Daly got me a great address: Orchestral Percussion.

I’d like to introduce this one man company: Paul Jefferies has been of great help, advice and got me some lost parts. He's surely not the only one, but he's a true vibes geek… and who knows he may some day save your instrument?

Healing Good Vibes for Joe Locke

.
Dear all,

Here are some news from Joe Locke: about to play a gig in Winnipeg, he had to undergo an emergency appendectomy.

Luckily, all went fine. He'll have to stay in the hospital for 3 days and then on his way home for recovery.

His manager Tom Marcello nicely kept us informed and just gave us those latest good news...

Let's all wish Joe a prompt recovery, good times back and to see him back on board... and on stage!!

Jack Brokensha - RIP

Guys,

Did anybody knew Australian vibist Jack Brokensha? I just learned from Sid Edwards (my old Vibe.net Austie friend) that he past away yesterday October 28th...

I made a little search :

- Bio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Brokensha
- Disco: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Jack+Brokensha

From there, I discovered that he worked among others with Marvin Gaye. Everyboday know the tune "What's Going On", but who noticed there were vibes in it? It was Jack Brokensha playing...

Just thought about passing on the message and bringing him to the "family album"...

Terry Gibbs - You Go to My Head

It's Terry's birthday this Oct. 13th! I got this terrific very recent vid of him (May 30th 2010). I truly dig it, and am totally amazed by his groove, phrasing, touch, soul and energy!

How many times did we come to that conclusion: vibes keep you young! ;-)
